This place was, through 2006-2007, a really good for my carnivorous, vegetarian and vegan friends to get our Friday night curries, and a lovely place to eat in, with a range of vegan curries well marked. In the last year, however, I've had some really bad experiences: food poisoning that caused me to leave my curry in the restaurant's own toilets, and a series of curries spiced far more zealously than they should have been (seriously, a friend could not stomach his korma). Hopefully, this was a temporary glitch, because at it's best, this is the vegan-friendly student food you wish you could find everywhere.

Chutney's Indian Brasserie

Kake, 5 Mar 2001

When this first opened, most of the veggie stuff was cooked in ghee (butter oil), but now it's mostly not - some of the dishes are even described on the menu as being suitable for vegans. The food here is pretty good, tasty and not too greasy. Watch out for the Aloo Chat though, since it's just a frozen potato hash brown thing for some reason.
