Located on Little Clarendon Street, where Barcelona used to be, this is a trendy, lively vegetarian cafe and bar. They do scrumptious cocktails (from £3.50), including the zingy Raspberry Moan About It, a delicious mixture of pureed raspberries, vodka and fresh lime. Other drinks include smoothies (from £2.60), most of which are vegan, fruit juices (£1.35) and a wide range of herbal and leaf teas (£1.50). There's a cocktail Happy Hour from 7pm, during which the cocktails are half-price.

The Beat Cafe no longer carries soya milk. No demand, or something.

There are three vegan options on the main course menu - the only one I've tried so far is a tomato-based Risotto (£7.25), which is very tasty and also quite substantial. The other options are Avocado Salad and Beat Rice Salad (both £6.75). Bar snacks include Bread and Olives (£2.95), which is enough for two to share. Be careful, as it usually comes with a pot of mayonnaise.
