This is a small friendly eat in or take away pasty place in the covered market. They do the only vegan special pasty I have seen in a cafe, made with potato and swede. Its big, but is still nice after being cut in half, frozen and reheated.

A "Vegan Pasty" is available here, for £1.75 take-away, or £1.95 eat-in. The pastry is light and tasty, and the filling is good too — well-cooked cubes of potato and swede with added herbs. This makes a good substantial hot lunch.

The Mushroom and Spinach pasty mystery is now definitely solved. It is vegan. The pasties other than the Vegan Pasty and the Mushroom and Spinach Pasty are not, as even the ones which look as though they might be have an egg wash on top.

There is also a mushroom pasty which might be suitable, the waitress wasn't 100% sure but I'll ask again for you
