I think this may have turned into Greens Cafe?
\nCleo have just told me they are not sure whether their sandwiches are vegan. They're not sure about the bread - they think it may contain egg. They will check as soon as possible.
\nThis is a new little sandwich bar, handily situated about halfway up St Giles. They've changed the menu once since they opened, already! None of the sandwiches now have butter on (the only butter on the premises is in small takeaway packets). Unfortunately they no longer have wholemeal bread, either, though there is a reasonable choice of different white breads.
\nThere is only one sandwich on the current menu that's vegan in its untweaked state - Hummous, Roast Mediterranean Vegetables and Raddishio with Black Olive Paste (£1.90), but there is always someone in the kitchen ready to make up others with ingredients omitted on request. The Pizza Baguettes (£0.95) can be done without mozzarella, for example. The pesto used does not contain cheese, and the guacamole does not contain cream, so with a quick peruse of the menu you should be able to invent a sandwich to your taste.
\nFresh fruit and decent coffee are also on offer here, as well as four different Innocent Smoothies (mmmmm). You can takeaway (and if you're in a hurry, the sandwich you want may be in the ready-prepared chiller) or eat in the cafe area upstairs (which I haven't been in yet).
