You can order the delicious plate of roast vegetable with salad and get a bowl of humus instead of the goat's cheese which is on the menu. It also comes with garlic bread so need to check if it is oil or butter - when I went it was olive oil.

I've tried the Vegetarian Mediterranean Pizza here, now - it's very good.

I can second Hannah's recommendation (below) of this as a nice, relaxed but stylish place for a drink or a meal. I wandered in for a drink at lunchtime on a Thursday and was told to sit wherever I liked, but warned that I may have to move to the bar if the place filled up with people lunching - this didn't happen, though. I chose a comfortable basketweave seat at a marble-effect table beside the window, and ordered a Lemon Pressé (£1.50), which arrived reasonably promptly and was fresh and tasty. Other interesting drinks I saw on the menu were Elderflower with Mint and Soda Water (£2.00), fruit juice cocktails at £2.50 and alcoholic cocktails from £3.95.

The staff were very attentive - perhaps a little too attentive, but this could have been because the place was less busy than usual for a lunchtime. One cool thing I noticed as I was about to leave was the unusual ice machine - a copper pipe vents icecubes into a large bathtub which also contains a clown.

This is a great place for an informal-ish but v. cool and trendy meal. I haven't checked out their breakfast, but for lunch and dinner the following options are vegan:

  • Starters:
    • Olives (£2.00)
    • Dolmas (stuffed vine leaves) (£2.25)
  • Main course:
    • Vegetarian Mediterranean Pizza (£5.65 [Editor's Note 20 Apr 2000: now £6.50 - comes without cheese as standard and includes fresh and sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, capers, olives, garlic, onion and oregano])

Don't be put off by pizza with no cheese; it is really good. They are also very happy to answer questions about what is and isn't vegan, or to vary their recipes slightly, to make them vegan - they offered to cook me garlic potatoes in oil instead of butter. However, I was there on a Monday lunchtime, and it's possible they wouldn't have been quite so helpful at a more busy time.

This is also a good place for cocktails. If you can afford it, Cafe Coco is definitely worth a visit.
