The ownership and management of this pub has recently changed, so you may find that they are no longer willing to do quite the same off-the-cuff grub. The atmosphere as good as ever, and the barrel of monkey nuts for beer accompaniment could be considered its Unique Selling Point, but the range of guest beers has gone down considerably.
Nothing on the menu here is vegan, but they will quite happily do you a raw or fried mushroom, tomato and onion baguette — make sure you specify no butter on the baguette. This sometimes costs £2.95 and sometimes £2.25. It's rather nice. I expect that a tomato baguette or chip butty would also be possible.
