(1) I have worked with Lester for two years. Over this period he worked as a
trader on the inflation derivatives desk, trading instruments ranging from
bonds and vanilla interest rate swaps to complex structured products. As well
as the rest of the trading desk, he works closely with sales staff,
strategists/quants, structurers and clients.

As a desk strategist, my role is to  maintain and develop the systems used for
pricing and risk analysis of the trading books, specializing in inflation
products. I therefore work closely with Lester: I deal with problems or queries
he may have regarding the modelling and analysis of portfolios, and we devise
new techniques and strategies to increase the efficiency and profitability of
the trading desk.

Lester's role is extremely demanding. He must constantly juggle the
requirements of clients, counterparties, sales staff, risk managers, and many
others. The products in which he trades are very complex and require
sophisticated analysis, yet the trading environment is time-critical and
requires very swift decision-making.

Lester deals well with the high-stress environment of the trading floor. He is
very motivated, self-starting, and quick to catch on.
