Server Side
A Web Service is simply a Perl module in the right directory - No ant scripts, no compile/deploy cycles.
Services can be deployed in a Web Server or “standalone” using a daemon script.
Apache/SOAP::Lite/ODBC/MySQL at least an order of magnitude faster than Tomcat/JAX-RPC/JDBC/MySQL – not sure why!
Web Services can be added/removed by simply copying them in/out of the target directory – in OGSI::Lite functionality can be added to a running Grid Service ?
Can go places Java cannot.
